Foundation

Foundations are the structures that support the entire weight of your home. Here are some important things you should know before looking for foundation services:

  • Your foundation’s design and performance will depend on the type of ground you want to build on and the load of your house.
  • If you are looking for foundation services from our company, we’ll start with a site visit to check if any surrounding buildings are showing cracks or sagging roof lines.  Those are indicators that reveal the grounds’ movements.
  • Before starting excavation or any trial pits, we will need to find out if there are services that run underneath the site. It is crucial to make sure that the site does not have any utility lines, you should never just assume. You should visit your local council, and they will give you copies of any other plans that may be taking place.

Our concrete construction and foundation services include the installation and formation of the foundation’s structural concrete, stairways, subgrade walls, footing, flows or other structures you want on your property. During the foundation construction process, forms are put into place and reinforcement bars are positioned to add strength to the structure. The concrete is then poured and the forms are removed.

There are different types of foundations

Strip:

This is the most common type of foundation. It is a strip of concrete that is laid in a shallow trench and forms a stable base for every wall element. It may be used for heavyweight and lightweight buildings as long as the soil is deep and firm.

Raft:

This is the type of foundation that is spread on a large ground area. It is a piece of reinforced concrete based on the house’s footprint and is more expensive to make compared to strip foundation. The slab goes deep under the outer wall on the edge beam and the load-bearing of the internal walls. The steel reinforcement put into the edge beams is sometimes prefabricated so that it can be lifted into place.

Piles:

These are concrete columns that are sunk deep into the ground and support the foundation. A specialist contractor will then drive them in the ground in small sections using steel tubes filled with concrete.
